Storage spaces.  Everyone loves those places on a boat, especially the hard-to-reach ones.

Using stations 1 & 2 as patterns the bulkheads were laid out for the crash bulkhead and the face of the storage area.  The discussion on what type of entry to the storage area was lengthy to say the very least.  Eventually the idea of two doors with a center post was accepted and laid out.

With ideas still being bounced around Travis used blue tape to lay out the doors for quick revision if needed.  The crowns were marked and both bulkheads cut out.  While Keith was deep in thought, Ed and Travis cut the doors – Travis with the circular saw and Ed with the jig saw.

Reinforcements were cut, glued and screwed onto the backside of both bulkheads to help support the king plank.  Some wooden blocks and hot glue were used to hold both bulkheads in place after final fitting.  The storage area face was given a rake to give a better look to the front of Valkyrie.

Both bulkheads were glassed in place with 17-08 tapes, the face of the storage area was glassed only on the bottom at this time, the rest will be laminated once the deck is ready to be installed.  Laminating the forward face of the crash bulkhead was a pain due to the depth involved, but well worth it.  Nothing Special Tool #77 couldn’t handle though.
