What an exciting day in Shop2. You may have noticed that some of the screw holes have been filled at this point with an odd blue colored compound, well this my friends is Rage. I was introduced to Rage a number of years ago and I was instantly impressed. While it is in all actuality a light weight automotive body filler, it works in marine applications just fine. Easy to use, easy to tool, tough as nails and it does not absorb moisture. A quick (depending on how much hardener you add) cure time allows you to build up problem areas in a timely fashion and it has a mind of its own, helping you to fill in the cracks and gaps that you may have missed. It took about a one gallon can to do the hull and transom, leaving some left for doodads and areas that need a little touch up.

Raged with care

Smurf Blue is such a good color
In the time between batches we took a break and talked about the waterline. Using our best guesstimates as to the usual load and proper use (and more importantly the IMPROPER use) we threw a reference waterline up on the hull and it looked pretty close. This time was also used to install the port side sheer material. After some more glue, screws and nearly every single C-clamp we had available to us, it was installed and left to cure over night.

We could have used one or two more...
After all this hard work, some more rage was applied and the grinder once again sprang to life, whirling around sending waves of blue arcing through the air to eventually land on the floor.

Grinding, gotta love it
